How I Made This Seaside Starfish Miniature Scene

How I Made This Seaside Starfish Miniature Scene

I’m excited to share how I created this tiny seaside-themed miniature featuring a handmade starfish night light. If you’ve ever wanted to try clay crafting or make your own miniature beach scene, this guide will show you exactly what I used and how I brought everything to life.

Materials I Used

  • Modeling Clay – Soft and easy to shape, perfect for crafting tiny starfish and seaside elements.

  • UV Resin – Adds a glossy, water-like finish for the ocean effect.

  • PVC Sheets – Ideal for creating transparent panels or containers to hold resin water.

  • Flowing Sand Oil – Creates dynamic, flowing water effects in resin.

  • Pigments – For painting vibrant, detailed colors on the sand, shells, and starfish.

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Shape the Figures
I started by sculpting the starfish, seashells, and other seaside elements with modeling clay.

  2. Add Color
Once the shapes were ready, I painted details with pigments. Painting before the clay fully dries gives the best results.

  3. Create Water Effects
To make realistic water, I mixed UV resin with flowing sand oil and poured it into a PVC container to simulate the ocean.

  4. Assemble Everything
Finally, I placed the clay figures inside the resin-filled panels, arranged the composition, and let it set. The handmade starfish night light became the centerpiece of the scene.
